Nicola Smuts

Nicola Smuts is a consulting astrologer, living in the UK. She has a diploma from Rod Suskin School of Astrology in South Africa, and a medieval diploma from Astrologos in the UK. Nicola lectures internationally on her fertility work, and her research and methods in this field are pioneering and unique.
Her success in diagnosing fertility issues in charts and finding potentially fertile times to try IVF and other reproductive treatments has been advertised in magazines such as Marie Claire, Daily Mail, London Times, The Sunday Times UK and her work has been featured on national television in South Africa. Many couples are extremely grateful to her for the valuable, time saving advice and recommendations she is able to provide to maximise the potential for conception. Her practical knowledge of the process of IVF and other reproductive treatments is extensive, and her own personal experience of infertility makes her a compassionate and caring professional.

Using astrology, Nicola is able to:

Diagnose morphology/motility problems in the charts of men
Diagnose the condition and quantity of egg production in women
Diagnose the condition of the fallopian tubes and see the likelihood of laparoscopy or surgery
Diagnose previously existing condition related to STDs and other blockages of the tubes
Diagnose thyroid or other endocrine factors that inhibit hormone development
Diagnose psychological background that might be inhibiting fertility in both men and women – this is most successful.
Select “lucky times’ for couples to try IVF/other treatments – an average couple has 2.5 lucky times a year.

Professor Richard Tarnas

Richard is the founding director of the Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness program at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco.  He is also associate faculty at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara.  A graduate of Harvard University and Saybrook Institute, he was the director of programs and education at Esalen Institute.

Publications
He is the author of The Passion of the Western Mind, a narrative history of the Western world view from the ancient Greek to the postmodern that is used as a text in many universities.

His most recent book, Cosmos and Psyche: Intimations of a New World View, received the Book of the Year Prize from the Scientific and Medical Network in the UK.

Based on thirty years of research, Richard Tarnas’s book sets forth a substantial body of evidence that suggests the existence of a systematic correspondence between planetary movements and the archetypal patterns of human experience.  These correlations, rather than indicating a fatalistic determinism in the cosmic scheme, appear to open up a new dimension of awareness through which human beings can participate more consciously and intelligently in their encounter with and embodiment of the great archetypal forces that shape human life.
The archetypal astrology that has been emerging in the work of many researchers and psychological astrologers in recent decades is proving equally valuable as both an aid in personal counselling and as a tool for illuminating the collective drama of human history.

Also interesting is Richard's involvement in the Archai – The Journal of Archetypal Cosmology.

This is an important book for astrologers as it bridges the gap between 'acceptable' literature and astrological thinking.
